I'm interested to know if anyone has more information or memories of Whinney Lane, which I have seen marked on old photographs and maps. In this photograph it looks like it ran down towards the Tyne from near Hartleyburn Avenue, so would it have disappeared when the Clothier Lab was built? Today I expect it would be somewhere in the new estate that is built there. Has it been memorialized in a street name?
