A 92 year old man that raped & killed a 75 year old lady 58 years ago (1967) has been caught & sentenced to life imprisonment thanks to DNA profiling.
He must have got the shock of his life when the Police turned up to arrest him.
This is all thanks to a British Professor, Sir Alec Jeffreys who in 1984 found that our DNA can be profiled. Since then it has helped catch killers & rapists all over the world and all thanks to him!
Another advantage for us is that DNA profiling has helped many many people find their long lost families.
