This story has just been passed onto me.
Will residents of Durham Court that are getting evicted get the opportunity to move into this complex if they wish?
Where did the name 'Griffin Court' come from?
(A Griffin is a mythical bird)
I've never heard of a Griffin name in Hebburn.
Do our Councillors never think about honouring people who did a lot for our Town? people like Alphonse Reyrolle & then Henry Clothier after Alphonse died. That Company employed well over 12 thousand local people for not far short of 100 years.
Griffin Court, Hebburn
The 95-apartment scheme, on the site of the former Lincoln Court scheme just behind Hebburn Central, is a partnership between Karbon Homes and South Tyneside Council, with Robertson Construction North East appointed as the lead contractor for the development.
The scheme will supply high-quality homes, designed for those who have additional support and care needs to live independently. There will be a whole host of facilities and amenities onsite to support and promote independent living.
20 two-bed and 75 one-bed apartments, 17 of which will be specialist dementia apartments. All apartments will be for rent. The homes will be owned and managed by Karbon with South Tyneside Council’s Adult Social Care team supporting with the allocation of the apartments. This scheme is available for anyone aged 18+.
Photo below is an example of what it should look like.
