Norman, they all retire very wealthy. Look at the Kinnocks’ great socialists. Kinnock’s main ambition he said was to get rid of the House of Lords. He didn’t win the election but John Major offered him a job in the EU. As his wife already had a job in the EU gravy train as it was called, it seemed a good idea. Later he was offered and accepted a peerage. Why would he accept, as he hated the House of Lords. Like all good socialists money is suddenly more important than principles. Now his son is a Labour MP and why not he saw how it made his parents wealthy.
