Going forward to the present day. There are a lot of double deckers used for the school run.
In Harrogate there are 2 big schools within half a mile plus 2 more within a mile or so of them.
Be prepared for a big traffic jam at leaving time!
Travel coaches also used to serve the outlying villages plus mini buses. Some from Leyburn firms but mainly from Boroughbridge.
I often see buses parked up during the day and one or two of the double deckers are OLD early Atlantian type.
They surprise me in that they are still being used. I assume that they are kept as emergency backup, just in case a later model fails.
I know that some Lorries have annual mileages that are sort of beyond comprehension and buses must be not far behind.
Pity that Alan de Rust is no longer on the board if still around he was into transport.
Allan C.
