Marie, I think each Catholic school must have been given so many places as St Anthony’s covered a large area of schools. I can only remember three girls going to St Anthony’s the year before you, but quite a few went to St Beads in Jarrow. I remember about 6/8 girls chosen for extra tuition at one side of the classroom and the others, including me were told to take outs book and read. Sadly we thought we were the lucky ones.
