Colin, my inside info tells me they are doing random digs hoping to find maybe Victorian relics. They've done it before and found nothing. If they start test bores they'll find sand at 2.5ft. The total rise from the chur h to the top of the bank is 60ft. Personally I don't think they'll find anything due to the massive build up of land. At one time the church had water at high tide on 3 sides. It has totally changed but who knows. I'm held up as I am not allowed to use a metal detector but theodolite and level ok at a later date.
