I have run an EV for 4 years now and was certainly not "sold a pup".
I would not go back to ICE. And the new 3p tax increase is irrelevant.
A major thread to your posting is the effect of extra weight of an EV but you routinely add a caravan to your car and haven't mentioned that a smaller caravan usually weighs one tonne, up to two tonnes and above for luxury models.
So it seems equitable to me that there should be a "caravan" tax to cover the extra wear and tear.
And as an expert user you will also be aware that caravans also need special tyres presumably also causing the extra wear that you claim EV's cause.
