Those were the days when people walked Bill.
We routinely got off the train or bus from Jarrow at Mile End Road and walked down Ocean Road to the beach. There was Trolley and the Economic but we never took it.
I recall that on Saturdays and Sundays in the 40's/50's it was always busy.
