Re: A third great record by the Searchers for Sheila

The Searchers weren't really songwriters but had a great ear for a song much like the Hollies, have a look at the songwriter credits, Jackie de Shannon, Sonny Bono, Doc Pomus etc These people wrote quality songs and were picked up by quality bands. I love the Beatles but not everything they wrote was a classic. The Beatles life was a relatively short life over as an entity by 1969, The Searchers lasted another 56 years and were predominantly a live band whereas the Beatles after1966 were a studio band. It's like comparing cats with dogs, two completely different beasts.
