Norman, regarding John Conway, all I can tell you at this moment in time is that John opened his nice little machine shop in the Foothills industrial estate here in Calgary. The company I worked for in Calgary sent me to John’s shop to taper bore pressure vessel heads for welding. Played again John’s team, the Calgary Callies, in soccer tournaments in and around Calgary…. 1980’s.
All quiet about him until about 10 years ago when we met a lady in Cancun Mexico who used to be his babysitter. She told me “I don’t know the exact details, but John had been very ill, but recovered and was still alive then”
Since my retirement I have lost contact with a lot of educated trades people that came from all over the UK. The English, Irish Scots, the lot ( as Mark knoffler would say )
