Twice a week I walked up Nansen and Franklin Streets with a sack over my shoulder collecting potato peelings and waste food to cook for our 500+ hens. I recall the feeling of wetness on my back oaking through my thick coat. We boiled the peelings on our coal fire before mixing in the meal. The hens had a hot meal every day!!!
