There has never been a special relationship. It is always based on what suits which party best and that was the same way back. In WW2 FDR couldn't get any support to help in Europe until the Japs obligingly bombed Pearl Harbor. Then it became an issue which suited the US.
That said Trump is a kn** of the first order and Starmer is a wimp who hides behind legality.
