I do remember how good the Ice cream shop was on Station Road. Another excellent ice cream shop was located behind Jarrow Town Hall. Can't remember the name but could never complain about the size of their cornets. Biggest ever. Then there was Franchi's on Hedgeley road. The star wasn't just the ice cream. It was the Gina Lollobrigida look alike behind the counter dishing out the goodies. Ahhhhh. Who remembers her? The whole family seemed a happy lot. Good chippy too.
