Last night I got a telephone call on my mobile from the Co-op fraud dept. A transaction was made on one of my cards for over £400 in Liverpool. He asked if I'd been to Liverpool, did I know anyone in Liverpool. He said my cards would be cancelled and a new one sent. He knew my mobile number, full name, address. Part of card number he said didn't match and I told him I wasn't going to give him any information regarding numbers or anything. He said we already have my information and hung up. He had a polite english accent and sounded very convincing.
I immediately rang the Co-op bank and they confirmed no transactions had been made......up to now anyway.
How the heck do these people get this information? Even the person I spoke to at the Co-op didn't know but she said it is becoming a big problem.
I think many people could be fooled and caught off guard. So, be very carefull people.
