Yes, Stan. We used to wear them as an added layer of insulation, serving in the Forces in Germany, back in the 70's & 80's, stood on "stag", in a muddy hole, for hours on end, freezing!
I recall some guys arriving with a hot tea ern. tasted disgusting, so poured the "tea" over our hands, to get get some feeling back!
