To express my love for you
With honeyed words, Byronic rhyme
As courtiers long ago would do
Verses rich to contemplate
Desires that would reverberate
Descriptions to arouse your senses
Designed and wrought to breach defences
Alas - I didn’t have a clue
All you craved from me was -
“I love you*
