Living around Jarrow and Hebburn for just under 18 years as a youngster, I saw the big ships come and go from being launched and in for repairs and modifications.
I have waded through the headwaters of the river up in the Keilder area in the late 60s and early 70s and have watched vessels travel in and out of the river while fishing from the lighthouse at South Shields, and have always wondered....How deep is the Tyne on average ??
Does anybody on the board know ??
