An old photo from 1948 showing the Bede Metal Co. on the right then Palmer's shipyard and then Hawthorn Leslie's shipyard. The photo was taken at a time when Hebburn was a hive of industry unlike today. The vessel in dock in Palmer's is the Dominion Monarch and she is being returned to her original condition as a refrigerated cargo vessel after being used as a troop ship during WW2.
