Ive just had a phone call from the lovely daughter of our oldest board regular Bob Noble to say Bob died on Tuesday 21st July just 2 days ago.
Some years ago Bob contacted me because he'd seen himself on a early 1930s Quay Board class photo I'd put on the board, saying he'd never seen it before. That was because people were poor in those days & some families just couldn't afford the price of a photo. So I sent him a copy. Bob would have been 99 in October and last time he rang me he said 'When I have my Birthday Party Norman I'm going to buy all the friends & family a '99 Icecream'. What a character. RIP Bob and deepest condolences to your family..
