I started learning in 1957 at 11yrs of age. Lessons were 3/- (15p) an hour given by Ian Cairns, 100 Collingwood St. Other pupils included the late John Miles and Peter Kirtley. About 1962 my dad bought a guitar,amplifier and echo unit from Alf Gibson for £90 and I did the clubs with it! Today I look back but pity pupils paying as much as £45 per hour for lessons and here in Liverpool often bump into ex scousers once famous who were once my idols.
