My family had a Link to HMS Victorious. My Aunty Peggy Davis nee Dunn was a young widow living in a Street close to the river Tyne in Walker late 1930s. An Aircraft Carrier, HMS Victorious was being built and as various Royal Navy men were arriving as Crew she was asked if she could billet a Petty Officer which she did. He was a single man from Sale in Cheshire. He (Jim Gardner) fell for her and asked her to move to Sale before he went off to War on the Victorious. She did move & lived in Sale with Jim for the rest of their lives.
