took over from Horse drawn tramcars in 1901 and then 49 years later in 1950 they finished probably because of the Trolley Buses that didnt need steel tracks.. At one point there had been 54 miles of track & 300 trams covering routes to Wallsend, Gosforth Park, Gateshead.
