When I saw your name below in Elizabeth Baker's thread, I thought it was a bit of a coincidence with regard to the photo below because it was in the same 'Hebburn' file and right next to the photo I was looking for to place in Barrie's thread about Agincourt. I make no apology for the fact that I have posted the same photo in the not too distant past. No marks for guessing that this is a beautifully restored MGB crossing a ford somewhere in the lovely county of Derbyshire... Happy memories. |
More important is the couple sitting in the car who are Jim (now sadly passed on)and Denise Butcher with their much pampered terrier in the back. They were originally from Hebburn but at the time of the photo living in Beckingham on the River Trent (opposite Gainsbough). The other connection is that the France/Fenwick Tyne tug "Beamish" was built there (original name Empire Paul, 1944) by J.S.Watson, as was one of the Tyne Ferries...I think it was Tyne Dutchess but not sure now.
A bit hazy but one of the very few colour photos of 'Beamish' awaiting maintenance at Harrison's, opposite Vickers Naval Yard.
