For Don Scott Roman Road on A59

Don There was a Roman Road that came over the hills to the West of Harrogate near Blubberhouses. It past along what is now the A59 near Menwith Hill base. There is no info as to where it then went. It maybe was going to Aldbourgh near Boroughbridge. |
It could have ran close to Ripley Castle as up to about 3 years ago there was a section of what could have been Roman Road remains. Itís been tarmaced over !
That Roman Road must have ran close to where we live say within one mile. It could have dropped down the hill towards Kettlesing, Kettlesing Bottom, and on to Birstwith, before going towards Ripley Castle. However in going down to Kettlesing Bottom it would have lost the. High ground.
It could have dropped down to Kettlesing but then kept to the North of Kettlesing Bottom.
As far as I know the line of this road has been lost at the east end of the Menwith Hill base heading east.
My feeling is that it must have ran near the line of Crow Hill Lane which is one of our regular walks.
Have you seen anything new on this section on that Roman Road.
