Another Newcastle first !

Be-Ro flour started in Newcastle with Thomas Bell, a grocer near the central station. His flour was called Bell's Royal flour. After edward Vll died it was illegal to use the word royal. So he took BE from Bell and RO from royal and up came Be-Ro !

I love your little anecdotes.

Thomas Bell made a good move renaming his flour Be-Ro, as it's still going strong today.
