Pelaw quarry pond

Hi Norman hope it is OK to post

We 'Friends of Pelaw Quarry Pond' are hosting a litter pick at the above pond and surrounding areas on Sunday 8th December meeting at cock crow inn car park at 10.30 am first a H&S brief then head on down to the Mill Lane entrance to the quarry pond to clear some litter away.

Volunteers are requested to join us litter pickets, gloves and bags provided - please wear appropriate clothing for the weather conditions (strong boots or wellingtons needed).

Also maybe some food for the wildlife too. Thank you in advance. 😊

You and the Volunteers do a fantastic job helping keep our area clean and tidy. Well done to you all.
Its people like you and the Cemetery volunteers that should be getting awards.

Thanks Norman I know that there are many on your board that aren't on Facebook so hopefully can reach them this way - as well as being part of your posts too. Thank you - maybe we will see a few volunteers on Sunday and hopefully next year we can share all the plans we have for this lovely area that we have on our doorsteps thank you

When you talk about Pelaw Quarry, do you mean the lakes between Bill Quay and Wardley. I used to cut through that road from Bill Quay school to my grandparents in Wardley but we always called them Wardley Quarry never Pelaw.

Hi Carol it is the pond behind the Cock Crow Inn that is known as Pelaw Quarry Pond it is on gateshead land and that is the name for it - we attended a meeting with Gateshead Council and had it confirmed that was the name it was to go by and we are part of the committee known as 'Friends of Pelaw Quarry Pond'-hope that makes sense Carol regards Shirley,,
