Interesting point Brian! It probably has. Nun St is named after the convent and the shelter is right next to where the convent would have been. Grainger would have disturbed a lot of it 135 yrs ago. It appears he built at speed to transform Georgian Newcastle. We know that to be true after discoveries in the Theatre Royal walls. |
