Pam Ayres and I were based at RAF Seletar, Singapore, in the late 1960s and we performed on the same stage on Saturday nights, folk singing at the Anopholes Inn (Sgts. Mess at the Army Hospital). At that time she was a very close friend of my mate John B....and when John and I were posted to RAF Benson, she came to visit him at weekends. John and I ran a folk club in the nearby Greyhound Inn at the village of Ewelme. We all used to have a drink in there and Pam has changed very little since then.
This clip is hilarious and most women will recognise the subject of her poetry.....
RAF Benson in Oxfordshire! I think it was 1960 when we went with Jarrow 1027 Sqadron air cadets for summer camp do! I got blasted for running across the parade ground when the flag was up! Happy days...
Yes Marie, I am an expert in cheering women's days,...just ask my wife. Every time I tell her that I am going down to the model flying field for the day, it brings a big broad smile to her face as she asks if I will be needing a bin liner😁
