It brings back the memory of a dive trip out of Scarborough. |
We had been diving further up the coast an the weather deteriorated causing a large sea to hit the east coast.
We were returning to Scarborough harbour on a converted trawler skipper a Bob Summers. This was in about 1974 so before the harbour was extended.
The trawler had to do a 90 degree turn to starboard to enter the harbour entrance.
The sea was causing Huge waves across the entrance some about 6 ft. We had tied up all loose gear and were wearing our wet suits and life jackets.
How Bob managed to get into the harbour was masterful, the trawler was like a toboggan going in. He must have had seas like those before.
