CANADA IS “SWELL” |
“The Canadians give us ‘swell’ hospitality.” writes Donald Blakey, a 13-year-old evacuee to his widowed mother, Mrs Florence Blakey of Hedgeley Road. Hebburn.
Donald, formerly a pupil in Clegwell Senior School, is living in Toronto. He is in the same billet as two other boys named Henderson and Robson.
“Our Tyneside tongue amuses the boys,” He states.
