Hello John, |
As you say, for reasons beyond our control, folk can’t block calls to landlines or mobiles - so, the only method left is the following:
My brother bought a telephone with Caller ID; he programmed it so that all of his contacts are entered: family, friends, doctor, dentist, etc.
When anyone that my brother know calls him, their name and number are displayed on the telephone screen.
If my brother does not recognise a name or number, he does not answer the call.
If the caller leaves a message:
If it is spam, the message is deleted without being answered.
If it is someone my brother knows, my brother adds their new number to his telephone and then calls the person back.
The same method as above can be used with mobiles: All your contacts are in your mobile, so if you don’t recognise the number, don’t answer… if it’s important, or if they’ve changed their number, they’ll leave a message to let you know who they are.
It's awful that it has come to having to use this method, but it works.
John, I agree that searching the Internet is becoming more and more difficult, for, as you say, we’re asked to sign in, or accept cookies for nearly every search now; when this happens I leave that page and open another… this can happen many times in a row before I get a page that opens freely. If it gets any worse – and it likely will – I will give up browsing the Internet.
Stopping browsing the Internet does not mean that I will stop using this great message board - far from it.
