We live just over the Border, in Scotland, but after hearing on the TV this morning that some cancer operations are being delayed or cancelled, my wife got really upset. We live an hour's drive from our nearest hospital and have had several trips there in the last few weeks. The latest news we had was to go for an MRI scan up at the far side of Edinburgh and an operation to remove breast and lymph node cancers "round about mid April" |
I left a message on the cancer specialist nurse's phone and she got back within 15 minutes to reassure my wife that her op might be put back about a week, but was definitely still going ahead.
My wife is more upset by the time that is going by and not having any definite news about her op than actually having cancer. She has already had breast and bowel cancer, so she is able to cope with the cancer but every day that passes without any news is getting her depressed.
The constant scare news about coronavirus just adds to her anxiety and life is one long cuddle to keep her spirits up.
The NHS is struggling to keep up with everything, but the individuals are battling on in the front line to keep us healthy. If only the panic buyers would stop being so greedy, we wouldn't have to worry about getting our shopping done.
