Two methods. 1 Stop paying it - they will soon tell you, or 2 Telephone: Taxes Helpline: 0300 200 3300 I know by experience that both work.

It could be anywhere in the country Ray and the offices are not really relevant nowadays. But if you really need to know the first three digits on your PAYE pay or pension slip (if you have one) Identifies the office. I suggest you telephone to tell them what you want to do. All contact now is via the central number.Have your NI number handy! And be prepared with sandwiches and a flask for a long wait! If you are wanting to submit a return try registering online via the HMRC site. Once done the process is painless. I have used it for 5 years or so.

When I work in the Algerian Sahara Desert I sent them a postcard with nowt but sand and one camel to the Gateshead office with the message" Wish you were here"! Mr Mason was far from amused...💥
