lucifers matches, anyone heard of them, it says on the box that they are also the inventors of the self acting coffee pot, what,s all that about?.

The coffee pot seems to have been an invention in the 1830's. It is mentioned in some of the gazettes of the time now online but they are difficult to read. It seems to have been the forerunner of the popular stove top pots now made by Bialetti.

Thatís the old name for matches. Maybe learnt it from old Westerns. Do enjoy the old rooting tooting Westerns.
Wonder how I of would enjoy them now.

Allan I use archive.org and listen to some of the old westerns such as Gunsmoke before they moved to tv. They have aged a lot better than a lot of the films and tv shows.

Lucifer was a fallen angel. Went to Hell and joined the devil amongst the brimstone, fire and sulpher. (a bit like Felling - Shore in the 1940s). Said to have been invented by a chemist in Stockton but similar things were used by the Chinese long before. I think the main difference was the locally made matchsticks had small flame suitable for domestic use and lighting your pipe. Others created a fire - and burned your nose off.
