There is no way that this photo would have been taken during the war as it could have been used to identify the men if the Germans had invaded.
So it must be much later. It may be possible to check it out. The 1939 records of the 2 named men will give their date of birth, occupation and if they were ARP or Specials but the term Specials may not have been used in case of invasion.
My father was both ARW and Special he was in 1939 listed as Special Constable as just checked the records.
? On the 1939 records what was PWC plus a number ?
If Specials what was the cutlery set doing there ? Doesn’t seem to fit. There seems to be a lot of men, so what area would Monkton Cover.
I wonder if any of those men are on the photo of Hebburn and Jarrow Specials that I sent you some years ago.
I would have thought that Monkton was covered by Jarrow or Hebburn.
