I think you have put a cat amongst the pigeons here...but it needed to be done. |
First, let me say that I was never familiar with Mr. Lee's surname whilst at the school. Lets just say that I didn't have an enquiring mind.
Having just looked at my 1952 school report (I told you I never throw anything away) it proves beyond doubt that you are right and the woodwork teachers Christian name began with 'F'...see part of document below showing his initials as FBL. So we can be sure that the woodwork teacher was FRANK.
That leaves the man in the photograph who Norman (Dunn) said was Norman Lees. I accept that but would add that both men are dead ringers for each other...not surprising as they were brothers. However, I am sure that Frank Lees also worked in Hawthorns Leslies before he took up teaching at Clegwell. That was my assumption because he secured a job there for me which I never took up. Maybe he was just passing me on to his brother Norman as being a good candidate for work in the carpenters/joiners shop as I always had good marks in woodwork.
So, if both these men worked at Leslies at some time or other...who are we looking at in the photo. I confirm that by the time Frank was teaching at Clegwell, he was wearing dark rimmed specs.
