Yes Ray the plots are flaky but in the absence of much else on TV just now I watch it, if I must, like others for the scenery. My favourite bits are when Vera summons an armed response unit from a location clearly (to those of us who know the territory) in County Durham which appears in North Northumberland 2 minutes later
When it first began quite a few years ago she did a good geordie accent, thatís more or less disappeared over the years. Even David Leon, who has just been replaced as her sidekick, is a born and raised geordie from Newcastle, had his accent and idioms toned down.
Vera was questioning someone on the Pier at Shields in one episode and next was in a house out in the wilds of Northumberland. Years ago I remember the kids watching Super Gran being chased round the Marine Park, and next scene she was running around Whitley Bay.
Why do they have to make fictitious Town names up aswell? Real names would bring more Tourists.
