Paws for Thought

When you're busy in the garden
and a stray cat comes to call
Before you chase him off your patch
Here's a legend to recall
Those who have gone before us
Unto a better place
Sometimes cannot settle
and miss the human race
They are granted dispensation
To come back for a while
But in the guise of pussy cats
Must dwell in feline style
So that wary little moggy
With the nervous frightened stare
May be searching for a relative
Or someone who used to care
Could be your Aunty Mary
Perhaps your Uncle John
Returned to pay a visit
To see how you're getting on
Then show a little kindness
and give pause to reflect
One day it may be your turn
So treat them with respect

I have always enjoyed reading poetry.
When my late wife was declining with dementia
over ten years ago,I was under a great deal of
pressure and found that writing helped me to cope
It seemed to be well received and I have carried
on ever since.Thank you and others for your
comments.
