Where is this?

This photo came from the man on the photo, the late Len Stephenson. He often rang me from Canada where he had emigrated. He said he loved to hear a Geordie voice

. Len must have fell in love with Canada after he was evacuated there during WW2 so returned to live there years later. The photo was taken around Ellison Hall but I cant recognise where.

Hello Liz,

I met Len when he visited the UK years ago. He was a relation (not sure how) of my mother (Winnie Forster nee Stephenson).

With my father Stan Forster, they lived at 4 Mons Avenue, Hebburn.

So we must be relations somehow??

I remember going to your mam and dads house many times in Mons Avenue with my mam ,what a lovely couple they were.I think your mam and my mam were cousins .

That does not look like Hebburn to me Norman. Could it possibly have been taken at one of the other seats of the Ellison family - Hedgeley for example?

Your Mam was called Sylvia and have a brother (Michael?). Ken's daughter Karen stayed at 4 Mons when she about sixteen I think, before staying with you?

My mam was Jenny Stephenson sister of Sylvia and Len ,Michael is sylvia,s son and Karen is Lens daughter..

I mean Hedgeley Hall in Northumberland, not Hedgeley road.

Looking at Google maps for Hedgeley Hall. I don't think it is. However those buildings are hidden behind trees.

I spent 10days in September less than a mile from it and passed it twice.

From my research into Hebburn children evacuated to Canada:-
Sylvia STEPHENSON age 10 and Leonard age 6, mother Mrs Mabel D. STEPHENSON of 6 Blindburn St., Hebburn. Both children were destined to stay with Mr & Mrs HINTON, Kingston, Ontario.
