when the discussion about king edward street was aired you spoke of a wet fish shop george, is this it, scotts, and where dous the cobbled lane lead to opposite the shop,

Sunderland Road School was on the left. The children used the road crossing beside the cobbles. There is an old photo on this website showing a policeman on duty at this point. You can just see Scott's wet fish shop on the right. They also sold rabbits and hares. One rather fierce looking lady with a black apron used skin and splay the animals, lay on their backs, and with an butchers axe, hack off the rabbit's unmentionables. then she would stare at us kids. We didn't get in her way.

The cobbled lane is marked with a yellow dot.
The wet fish shop is marked with a red dot.
Sunderland Road School is clearly shown

The map is BEFORE 1927 as King Edward School is not shown. The school was opened in 1927.
