Where abouts would that have been in hebburn. Bet that lasted longer than the community centre.

The North Lodge used to be on the corner of what is now Hall Road and Station Road - land now occupied by Andrew Craig Estate Agents, and The Hair Place:

It looked a decent age back then, I would imagine Hall Road have been the original driveway up to the hall.

A thought Barry and Norman was there ever a building on the East side of the Hall Road/Victoria Road at any time before development.

Hello Brian,

There was no building shown on the East side of Hall Road/Victoria Road before North Lodge appeared.

The North Lodge is not shown on the 1850 Map, but is shown on the 1859 Map.

In 1888 there was nothing on the east side of Station Rd junction, but in 1916 there was, so sometime in between it happened.

The present buildings on that corner which some of us remember as the TSB (in Hall Rd.) and the two grocers - Duncan's and Thompson's on the High Road have the date 1933 on them; so was North Lodge demolished just before?

North Lodge was known as 'Hall Road Railway Houses' in the 1910 Rates List, with the same tenant's surname from previous times of Keen (Frances) , and the property owner was the Carr Ellison's.

Thank you for the date (1933), which I've logged.

As the lodge occupied the same space as Andrew Craig's building, we now know, therefore (thanks to you) that the lodge was definitely demolished prior to 1933.

Alas, the Online records are sparse for that period, and although the lodge is shown on a 1916-17 map, it is presently unknown exactly when it was demolished.

Aye Peter. The Trustee Savings Bank was just one door up from the corner and moved to the precinct in I think 1962. Alan Woodrow was Manager at that time and, as the only bloke, had the life nagged out of him by a bunch of girls who made up the staff.
I married one of those girls. I feel for him!!
There are few in Hebburn, particularly those from Reyrolle, who didnt have an account at the Trustee Savings Bank.
