Anyone recognise these children from the 60s?

Davy Jardine gave me this photo 15 yrs ago, but there was no info with it. Can anyone recognise any of the children and what school it was?

I think it could be Newtown a year or two ahead of me but I recognize one or two faces.

If Brain knows someone is a few years older than him it will give an approx date of photo.

People may remember the twins RHS front row more than know the faces.

I think the lad 4th from right back row looks like Jeff(Geoff) Beckett the family lived on Hedgely Road

Hello Brian,

If you're correct and that is Jeff Beckett of St Aloysius school, then the photograph would have been taken c.1966.

The Beckett boys were in the Newtown school I was in the same class as Eddie his younger brother was a year or two below us.

Barry it's unusual for brothers to be in different schools but not unheard of.I reckon the year is about right.

Hello Brian,

Yes, that's true, it's not unheard of for siblings to go to different schools.

Even though my siblings and I lived at the same address, some of us went to St Oswalds school, one went to St Bedes RC, Jarrow, one went to the Quay school, one went to the Newtown school and the others went to St Aloysius.

We think it's the Newtown school. Someone must recognise the twins on the righthand side.

If 4th from right back row is Geoff Beckett, then 3rd left middle row is me...... but I've never seen this photo, or at least, I don't remember it.

St aloysius 1965? I don’t think so, that would make most of those kids 6 yrs old. Don’t know Brian he wasn’t in that class, that’s me under the dot😊

Hello John (Niven),

When Norman (Dunn), gets photograph from regulars, the regular usually know who’s on them and the date; in this instance, the contributor only gave a date.

John, as that is you on the photograph under the dot, can you possibly give a correct date, or name any of the other children?

When I posted this photograph on the Hebburn website most names were added then.

I tried my old link to the original Hebburn website to see the added names and it went to a dodgy looking site I came right out of. Is the old site now gone forever?

I'm sorry... I didn't realise that it was you that contributed the St Aloysius photograph with added information.

Norman (Dunn) still has all the photographs, though he no longer puts them Online.

Years ago, Mike Ellison said if I wanted any images from his Hebburn.org site then go ahead before it closes.
His site will not be returning.
I am not sure where that photo came from. I might have taken it from Mikes site but dont think so or I'd have got the names aswell.If you have names then I can add them. Infact if you have a better scan I'd like a copy please. Thanks.

Sorry my copy is no better, but if you want to try numbers next to faces I will give it a go. Looking back at that photo It is decades since I have seen most of them so I will need a bit of help. 😊
