Bending the Knee.

When supporters are allowed into football grounds, we show our dislike of Bending The Knee, would be to turn our backs to the players when they bend the knee. The FA nor the Football Club could do nothing about this???

Michael. They cannot bring in any rule on this as it would infringe players human rights.

The trouble with it is it’s a tainted action now.

Surprised there isn't a number of individuals players who have the bottle to ignore it and stand straight. But they all seem to go along with it, sheep comes to mind.

At least one player doesn't take the knee, Lyle Taylor of Nottingham Forest, see below from "Nottinghamshire Live" Website and he's a Black lad.

It wasn’t your typical post-match interview after Nottingham Forest’s FA Cup win over Cardiff City on Saturday.
And comments made by Reds striker Lyle Taylor have generated a considerable amount of debate.
The 30-year-old, who scored the only goal at the City Ground, spoke about the Black Lives Matter group and his decision to no longer take a knee before games.
"My support for what it is that we're trying to achieve is absolute, but I do not support Black Live Matter as an institution or organisation," he told BBC Radio Nottingham after the game.
I would request anyone looks into Black Lives Matter to look into what that organisation does and what they stand for because it's scandalous that the world and the world's media has got behind Black Lives Matter.
"Not the message, of course black lives matter. Standing behind Black Lives Matter and all the institutions that have done that - the BBC, Sky, all of them saying Black Lives Matter, it's not a good idea because of what the organisation stands for.
"The message overall is 100 percent important, don't get me wrong on that. You see what is happening - I'm not going into my beliefs into what went on in the Capitol building (referencing the attack on America's congress) because I've done my fair amount of research into it.
"In terms of black lives actually mattering and black people being killed by police more frequently, that's not a good thing.
"Black lives do matter, but you'll never hear me say Black Lives Matter again in reference to that company"

My answer to anyone supporting BLM would be to tell them how many people died in two world wars including millions of innocent people including children in the gas chambers.

That was just 70 odd years ago. Do us White people have massive chips on our shoulders about it and blame todays German people?
The answer is NO, as we all became friends after the war and we helped Germany recover. We dont hold any grudges so why do they go on and on and on about slavery 200 yrs ago?

I’m new to this forum, finding it interesting – Not sure why this is such an issue, it’s a free country, if people want to ‘Take a knee’, why not, if they don’t, up to them.

Because they are getting payed lots of money by supporters to play football on the football field. It is not a stage for dramatics!

Welcome Tom. This board is excellent for info on Hebburn and surrounding places.

Most of us are old codgers. Our oldest member is 94, a lot of us are anyway between 60 upwards.

If you have any questions on Hebburn, Jarrow, Bill Quay Etc. We will have probably researched it over the years. We love new folk asking questions, it gets the brain box working.

Great to have various opinions Tom.
For me the taking of the Knee is about support for BLM. BLM is divisive and rascist and reminds me of the Black Power stuff of years ago.
BLM also beatifies a known vicious criminal. BLM tries to erase history.
I am happy with "No room for racism". I was happy with "Kick it out".
I dont see colour. I see people.
But when I see the Knee I am frankly offended.

If by ‘Erase History’ your on about removing statues...it can be argued that known slave owners, or traders shouldn’t be given places of honour on our streets in the 21st century...

Tom, a lot of those streets etc would not be there if it wasn’t for money provided by the so called slave traders. What happened all this years ago can’t be altered, it happened, it is part of history and not just in this country, it is not the kind of thing that would happen now.

As far as ‘taking the knee’, ‘ Black Lives Matter’ and the like, I find very offensive, to my mind all lives matter not just black lives.

Anyway welcome on board, we all have opinions on matters and most of the time we do have lively debates but it is not so good when threads turn into slanging matches it doesn’t get us anywhere and can spoil a good discussion.

Don’t think there’s any dispute that the statue in Bristol was of a real slave trader, not a so called one...
History is interpreted differently over time...facts don’t change, how they are viewed does...a recent example was the elaborate Jimmy Savile headstone...when the true story came out, his own family asked for its removal...that didn’t change what he did, but he was no longer ‘honoured’...to me removing statues is in a similar vein...remember how the locals pulled down the Saddam Hussein statues?? Anyway, good to have different opinions, and much bigger things to worry about...

Wearing a poppy and a minutes silence is in respect of all those who died in armed conflict regardless of race or colour, I can’t believe the stupid response in comparing it to taking the knee, no connection whatsoever!

The fact that you can’t see a connection doesn’t mean there isn’t one!! My comments on the poppy/silence was a response to this ‘Because they are getting paid lots of money…. It is not a stage for dramatics’. The objections and offence are not to any ‘gestures’, only ones that don’t have your approval…often the ‘minute’s silence’ is for an ex-player, nowt to do with people dying in armed conflict…I won’t call that a stupid response however, as I was taught good manners, which I usually remember

Quite true, their is no connection between footballers and Remembrance Day and the sale of poppies and the response thinking otherwise was mind bending stupid.

Well spotted, thanks...I changed my screen name on other Social media to my first and middle name - Tom Anthony, after getting trolled by certain individuals...I use my given name, Tom Lynch when I came on here...it seems my other name is still my ID on my IPad, but not my laptop...I will try to remember to change it next time.
