Wardley colliery methodist church 1923 to 1943

I am looking for any info or pictures of this church.
Who was the Minister there, the organist etc
I remember it was near Wardley school

Not much help Sheila but here is a photo of the organ without the organist. Gone for fish and chips - with you know who.

Late Hours : Today and Everyday

Carol, like many others during this lockdown, I have little idea, not only of what time it is but also of what day it is. Today is just another day and it came after yesterday and it usually comes before tomorrow. However, tomorrow will just be today when it eventually arrives (if you get my drift). Other days are just some Otherday. The delivery of the milk helps when it comes as I know with reasonable certainty that today will be a Monday or Wednesday or Friday. If there is no milk on the doorstep, today will be Saturday or Sunday, Tuesday or Thursday. Now I am sure you will agree it is much easier to just have everyday as Today with a clear understanding that there are Otherdays like yesterday and tomorrow but they may not really exist as Yesterday has gone down the plughole and isn't anymore and tomorrow, as I have already explained is just today in waiting. I mean if you check you will find a yesterday today and tomorrow has occurred every day, honest, 'tis true.

Carol, Barry, on a more serious note, I don't sleep much at all. Usually go to bed about 2am and have to be up to prepare my wife's medication each morning at 8am. This means getting up about an hour prior to that. These last two weeks I have been watching the cricket from Sri Lanka starting at 4am. This morning's match was well worth watching (if you like cricket). The real serious point I wish to make is, although I sometimes feel tired, all I require is 5 minutes shuteye. I just cannot lie in bed. As soon as I awake, I have get up. Not always been this way just over the last 20 years or so. I don't need sleep. Yes, my wife and I have separate rooms. She has a serious heart condition as she lost 75% of the organ (yes three quarters of it) when she had a heart attack 10 years ago and is fitted with nine stents. She has also had a brian tumor (Tolosa Hunt) about the same time. Neither of us look our age and she is full of fun and I love her to bits. I know I can be flippant which will annoy some. Put that down to not dwelling on my misfortune as I don't think I have had any compared to others. Born before the second world war, lived in the worst slums around in Gateshead as a youngster. I now feel that I have it all with my wife, widowed daughter who lives just a few miles away - and two fine grandsons. We all play clarinets (wife excepted). I have had my jab and look forward to more fun on this site - or until I get slung off.

If you go on my Gateshead East website (www.gatesheadeast.co.uk) there is a Search Engine. Put in the word 'Methodists' and you will see a list of pages with Methodist's in them.
I have quite a few images of Wardley methodist folk on the site that you might know.

Hello George,

I agree, people are different, hence some don’t need as much sleep as others. Also, time is relevant to one’s lifestyle, and with your wife’s regimen, it’s understandable why you’re up all ours, and good that you don’t feel the need for much sleep.

George, even with your wife’s ailments, it’s uplifting that you and she both love each other, have a good sense of humour, are content with life, and take it as it comes… it’s probably how you both look so young for your ages.

Laughter is the best medicine, and a positive attitude to a negative situation helps us be mentally and physically prepared to overcome whatever unfavourable things life might throw at us.

George, I also have insomnia. Bye the way, do you think that tossing and turning all night could be classed as exercise? Anyway, if I look on the bright side it's only 3 more sleeps till Christmas!

Alan, the Claxton's other name was The Tappers Arms. Never used it - afraid to go in.
