On the 14th I deleted my link to the board. I’d had enough of some things that were being posted, and I felt that I had been posting far too much. I had Intend to be off for 2 weeks but had a spare 20 min today and had a peep and saw your concerns.
On the 14th our son in law went to ASDA to get our click and collect. It was far to dangerous for me to use my 4x4 in the heavy snow, his LR Defender 25 year old is great in these conditions. They have them so that they can get out to their properties in almost any conditions.
In the past week I have logged the felled tree that was under the green tarp in the photos that I posted re Snow.
A lot of heavy work and as my left leg not a happy bunny at the moment. I think that the weight of pushing the loaded barrow up hill to the ready to use store has been too much.
Yesterday my son in law gave me a hand for 2 hours, he took the loaded barrows up for me. As a result I cleared the lot. Tripling the amount that I could have done alone.
On the 17th our granddaughter had her 13th birthday, very low key indeed but she showed us her exercise bike, love it. Hope to try it sometime if we can get rid of Covid.
On Monday evening we heard that she has been selected for the Yorkshire Cricket Team in her age group.
So now, she is besides Cricket, is into Rugby, Hockey, Netball. When her Dad is free, they both go running. Even in the heavy snow.
In the last two days her dad has gone on his bike as she runs as she is just too fast. (He will not admit he’s getting ON, to be fair he has a recurrent injury) run usually 5 miles.
She has taken over one end their big dinning table as an office for her school work. 2 computers plus other bits of kit. Why 2 computers. One for the Zoom meeting with school the other to access the net etc. During the Zoom meetings.
Her school has them hard at it.
On Sunday we were shocked to hear that 3 people we know well are not going to have the Vaccine, one of them really needs it. I’m afraid they feel the the Vaccine has been developed too quick. I’ll say no more.
Wednesday more logging until 2pm then TV for the swearing in. Saw the outgoing going off in a funk, bad looser.
Today an important day, got something out of the way and our First shopping trip of the year.
Then back for lunch then out to service my chainsaws and then down to the far end of our woods to start clearing a fallen tree. The upper 30 foot has come down leaving 15 - 20 still standing. Just made inroads into the fallen section and covered with a tarp.. unfortunately as it came down it brought down another good tree.
The heavy snow has created havoc, 3 trees down and 3 trees have had branches broken off. There could be more damage.
All this is in addition to the 3 trees that I already knew about.
Two of these trees Leaners the roots are now pulling out of the ground due to the land being soaked. They could well come down by themselves.
Regretfully no bike rides, too much on and the snow and ice etc. Better to be safe than sorry.
More on Sunday if time.
Thanks again for your concern. PS I have started to do do exercises to try to get fit again but only when not logging so only 2 days in the past week. These exercises are only for 10 mins a warmup really.
I’m so happy to hear that you’re well. I, along with other regulars have often said how much we enjoy and look forward to your interesting stories – in fact, the board really wouldn’t be the same without them. You’re so popular that your absence from the board – even for this short time – was much noticed.
Allan, you are one of the original posters to the board, and as such, we’ve come to know you so closely through your stories, which is why you’re so dear to us.
Allan, although you feel that your fitness isn’t up to your standard, there are many folk younger than you that would love to have your level of health, and your seemingly boundless energy.
Allan, I'm so pleased I contacted you as I had no idea you werent too happy with certain posts. I'm pleased you took notice and returned. We need people like you .
