South Shields - RNAS Seaplane Base

Here are a few of photos from Littlehaven beach in South Shields this morning, showing the ramp for World War 1 sea planes.

Extremely low tide and recent storms have moved the sand to expose more than I have ever seen before.

It's wonderful to see that much of the base, though I hope it's safe being open to the elements like that.

The Lincolnshire RNAS base mentioned in the attachment was Killingholme., not Killingwoth...near North Killingholme haven...on the south bank of R Humber.

I only hope the council will leave it there .I cycle along there all the time and poeple ask me what it is . Its a good talking point
