does anyone know what happened to the £25.00 that pensioners and others used to get if the weather was below freezing for a week or more without rising above., does it still apply?.

Yes it does Alan, there have been a few articles in the papers about it, maybe you can google and see if the north east will be getting payments.

It depends on what benefits you qualify for whether you get it or not.

You can check it on the gov website if your due a payment in your area you just have to put the first part of your postcode in.

If you receive the cold weather allowance in November/December you qualify . You should receive your payment in about 14 days. If your area is mentioned .
