Free of Speech Piers Morgan v Megan Markle

I am not a fan of Piers Morgan, as I have said in a previous thread we, the general public, the interview that took place between Prince Harry, Megan Markle and Oprah Winfrey what was said we will never know what is true and what is not true. I have just read that Megan Markle has made a complaint to OFCOM about Piers Morgan saying he didn’t believe what she had to say, I do feel that Freedom of Speech in this country is in real trouble, do others have any thoughts on this matter?

Piers Morgan calls a spaid a spaid, with no regard to the PC brigade, that's why he is so popular, and why the BBC wouldn't touch him with a barge pole. (Just my opinion)

I agree with you Liz. I’m not a fan of Piers Morgan, but it is worrying that we are losing our freedom of speech. I’m hoping the News Programme Andrew Neil is going to be broadcasting will be an alternative to what we have at the moment.

Yes you are correct Sheila, I am also looking forward to the new news programme, I sincerely hope that it will be a news programme and presented as news not as the presenter’s, whoever is presenting the news, interpretation of how they think the news should be in their opinion.

I think that Piers Morgan must be allowed to say he doesn’t believe Meghan Markle, it is his opinion, the rest of his viewers can make their own minds up on the matter.

Oprah Winfrey allowed them to say anything without any proof . It should not have been broadcast unless they name names. They were allowed to speak there minds without any substance
All piece morgan said it was all diatribe unless you prove me wrong

Yes exactly Ray, Oprah Winfrey did not ask them to substantiate what they were saying, Meghan more or less said she was ‘housebound’ as They had taken her passport away but hey she went all over the place on private visits without any problem even flying on private jets.

I do think that we have to maintain our right in this country to freedom of speech, Piers Morgan is entitled to his opinion, some people will disagree with him but again they are entitled to that right.

I agree totally. Who was it said “I may disagree with you, but will defend your right to say it” . We seem to be losing this on the alter of being Politically Correct., or Woke.

There’s nowt wrong with Piers Morgan he’s a Very good interviewer, bit harsh at times ( correction at all times) I switch him off when he goes too far. But he will not take BS from anyone.

Getting back to the H & M case. Everything he said was on the mark questioning what had been said on the programme.

You should read today’s Daily Mail on the subject, it’s an eye opener.

I said in another post a few days ago that our press are on the case going through all the details and timeline.

It’s even worse than I thought a few days ago.

Just read it and draw your own conclusions.

I have read today's Daily Mail Alan l agree with you Megan Markle has certainly got some baggage from the past which has just been forgotten in her favour,l just hope it comes out in public.I am a firm beleaver in hearing the other side of the Equation,this story is so one sided it beggars belief l know it will,also l am a firm believer in not what folk say but what they DO,these two have certainly DONE the LATTER.

I agree with Piers Morgan what he said about the interview
But Free speech is not the same as insulting people.with sarcastic remarks.

I agree with you Lilian, derogatory and insulting people is not good, we can all agree to disagree, we all have an opinion but we shouldn’t stoop to making rude comments about our board members and their views, I am sure we would not like hateful comments being said about ourselves.

It was the unkind descriptions of the royal family who cannot answer for themselves the board members can.derogatory remarks are uncalled for though to anyone.We have always respected each other hope it remains that way.

I would have thought that the Sky News Reporter would have acted with a little bit more decorum, he has only just returned to duties having been suspended for breaking lockdown rules to party with Kay Birley, Beth Rigby and others at the back end of last year.

Liz , I did read he was just back after being suspended. They seem some horrible people work as Sky journalists. I was furious to read the nasty comment Kay Burley made about Simon Westons appearance. I just wish someone could make her sit and watch Simons War. She would see how much he suffered.

You are so right Sheila, i will never forget seeing a programme on the TV when they brought that poor boy home, they immersed him in water, as part of his treatment, his screams were terrible, he was so disfigured but he didn't have a bad word to say about anyone.

You have to take your hat off to him he has certainly made a name for himself for all the right reasons he has dedicated his life to charitable good deeds, more tgan can be said for the overpaid Sky News Reporters.

Liz, Like you I remember it so well. I immediately got very emotional when he was carried from the plane a RAF/Army surgeon stepped forward and said “ok lad we’ve got you” I don’t think these people are real journalists.
