George Felton ex St. Joseph’s Comprehensive PE teacher death
Posted by Peter on March 14, 2021, 7:31:58
I just heard that George Felton died last month aged 84, for any old St. Joseph’s pupils that may post on here. He taught PE at St. Joseph’s from around the time it opened to the early 1990s. He was into athletics and also taught Brendan Foster I heard. RIP Mr Felton.

A different Pete here from NZ. I went to St Joseph's Grammar Tech (as it was then) and remember Mr. Fenton and also Brendan Foster. A bunch of us 5th formers (self, John Bell and Aidan Anthony) thought ourselves pretty useful cross-country runners. We would set off on a training run across the playing field at the back of the school and onto a track that ran around an old sand quarry. Brendan was in the upper 6th and would only set off after we had left the playing field. He'd catch us up and run around the quarry track with us then, as we re-entered the playing field for the final run to the changing rooms, Brendan would kick and disappear into the distance. He'd be showering by the time we got in.
